What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Dabbagh Welfare Trust receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

Water For Life

Nearly 1 billion people lack access to clean drinking water. Give the gift of a water pump and help us eradicate water poverty. Through our water appeal, we also build sanitation and hygiene facilities for the poor and needy families. Save lives by giving people access to clean and safe water.

Every human knows that water is a source of life. However, as Muslims water is much more than that. Whilst water is important for the physical survival of a human, water is as important for the spiritual survival of a Muslim.

  • 5 times a day Muslims perform Wudu with water
  • On Fridays, Muslims perform Ghusl with water
  • Water is a must for personal hygiene in a Muslim’s life
  • The deceased is washed with water
  • Water removes impurities from clothes, pots & pans

Water: A blessing from Allah

Water is an integral part of Islam and has been embedded in Islamic teachings. It is one of the immense mercies of Allah ta’ala bestowed upon us. We use this blessing of water as a source of growth, sustenance, and bodily purification, as we are required to perform wudhu and ghusl (ritual ablutions) using water before prayer throughout the day. Allah ta’ala mentions this blessing in the Holy Qur’an:

“And it is He who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy, and We send down from the sky pure water”

[Quran 25:48]

4 Out of 6 people do not have access to clean water

Unfortunately, one of the biggest problems we are facing today is that approximately 36-40% of the world’s population is without safe water or sanitation. Many hundreds of millions are in a cycle of poverty and disease. Across poverty-stricken nations, millions of women are spending a lot of time collecting dirty water and children are dying from diarrhoeal diseases. The communities have no sewage system in place and are living amongst open-running sewers.

Water is a source of life

We take water for granted – we do not truly appreciate it. Imagine life without clean water- we can’t. However, there are many people around the world where it is normal to use dirty water.  Dabbagh Welfare Trust aims to provide clean water and proper sanitation facilities to improvised communities around the world. Our beloved Prophet, Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) describes water as one of the three wonders of the natural world that every Muslim is entitled to:

“Muslims have a common share in three (things). Grass, water and fire”

Water Appeal for Yemen

Water Appeal for Syria

Syrian families living in camps do not have access to clean water. Many Muslim charities work together in these camps and distribute drinking water among the Syrian refugee families.

Through our Syria Crisis Appeal, we are distributing clean drinking water to hundreds of Syrian families. Water Appeal – Personalised Feedback

Here at Dabbagh Welfare Trust, we provide personalised feedback where you have requested or you have provided plaque information. For water appeal, if at the time of donating for a water pump, water well, water tank or water tanker, you’ve provided us with plaque information along with your contact details, then Insha’Allah upon completion we will provide you with personalised feedback about your donation.

We install all our water pumps within 6-8 weeks. For water wells, it takes usually around 2-3 months and for water tanks and tankers we distribute them within 6-8 weeks of receiving your donation.

Donation Policy

Dabbagh Welfare Trust operates a 100% Transparency Policy. Our financial records are available to anyone who wishes to see where donations are being spent. We are a 95% Donation Policy Charity.

Example

If £100 is donated towards our Gaza Water Appeal, the breakdown of that donation is as follows.

£95 will be spent to provide water for families in Gaza

£5 will be used on marketing to re-generate further donations for the Gaza Emergency Appeal

0 salaries – Dabbagh Welfare Trust does not have any salaried employees

Any gift aid claimed will be reinvested back into the charity in the form of funding projects which don’t receive enough donations and to cover any extra marketing and administration costs.
